The ISU Figure Skating Awards return in style with a Gala Night in Boston

03 Mar 2025

The International Skating Union (ISU) is thrilled to announce the return of the ISU Figure Skating Awards its fifth edition, now with a dazzling brand-new format! This prestigious annual event celebrates the world’s most exceptional Figure Skaters for their creativity and outstanding performances throughout the season, while also honoring the brilliant minds behind the scenes including Coaches, Choreographers, and Costume Designers, who bring the artistry and magic of Figure Skating to life.

For the first time ever, the Awards will take center stage as a glamorous red-carpet ceremony, set to unfold on March 30, 2025, during an exclusive celebratory evening at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Boston (USA). Save the date and get ready for an unforgettable evening where the stars of Figure Skating will be crowned after an extraordinary season!

How to vote for your favorite candidates?

As from March 3rd, 2025, fans and media are invited to cast their votes for their favorite Skaters, Coach and Choreographer (view full list of candidates here) through the ISU Figure Skating Awards online voting platform. The selection process happens in three distinct phases:

  1. Fans & Media Votes - March 3rd – 9th:

  • A Selection Commission curates a long list of candidates based on the season’s performances, rankings, creativity and other criteria which will be put to a public and media vote. The public vote counts for 2/3, while the media vote counts for 1/3.
  • This season, the following categories and a total of 57 candidates are open for voting:
    1. Best Costume (20)
    2. Most Entertaining Program (20)
    3. Best Coach (8)
    4. Best Choreographer (9)
  • The following categories are not subject to voting:
    1. Lifetime Achievement Award: will be selected exclusively by the Selection Commission.
    2. Best Newcomer: this year with only three candidates, they are automatically advanced to the Nominees stage.
    3. A new category will be announced soon. Stay tuned!
  1. Nominees Selection:

  •  To determine the finalists based on the results of the public and media votes, the ISU Figure Skating Awards Selection Commission will consider several criteria for each award category (more details here).
  • The list of nominees will be published shortly after the closing of the votes.
  1. Jury Decision:

  •  Finally, a panel of six former international Figure Skating champions will select the winners in each category.

The Award Ceremony – March 30th:

  •  Winners will be revealed live in front of the Figure Skating community during an exclusive Gala Evening, taking place on the last day of the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Boston.
  • Closing the season on a high note, the prize-giving ceremony will be a magnificent celebration of elegance and excitement, paying tribute to Figure Skating legends, rising stars, and the creative visionaries who continuously push the boundaries of excellence in the sport.
