Jin started skating at age 7 after watching a figure skating competition. He looks up to Olympic Champions Alexei Yagudin, Evgeni Plushenko and Yuzuru Hanyu. Jin is the first skater to perform a quadruple Lutz-triple toeloop combination in ISU competition (Grand Prix Cup of China 2015).
