The husband and wife team from St. Petersburg is skating together since 1985 already. This is reflected in the harmony of their skating. Shishkova/Naumov had come a long way to win their World title in 1994, but decided to go on to the next Olympics. Both were sent by their parents to the rink. As a child, Vadim stopped skating and focused on gymnastics. He returned to figure skating later, because he was afraid of his strict gymnastics coach. Last season, a whole bunch of injuries and illnesses prevented the couple from skating well. Vadim suffered from a shoulder injury and had to undergo surgery. Evgenia was twice in hospital with an infection of the ear and other health problems. The pair is on their way for a comeback this season and intend to join the professional skating circuit afterwards. They reuse music of former programs, but changed the choreography.
