Following a spectacular opening of the ISU Figure Skating Junior Grand Prix series 2026/27 last week, the action shifts to Riga, Latvia, for the second event from August 27-29. The next wave of figure skating talent gets ready to light up the ice in pursuit of crucial points towards the ISU Figure Skating Junior Grand Prix Final in December in the second of seven exciting events spanning Europe and Asia.

Whom to Watch in Riga

• Hana Bath (AUS): Making history as the first Australian single skater to earn a medal at the ISU Figure Skating Junior World Championships, Hana Bath,16, now pursues her first victory on the ISU Figure Skating Junior Grand Prix. Watch out for Hana’s signature triple Axel.
• Mei Okada (JPN): The reigning JGP Riga Champion returns hungry for back-to-back titles after a successful 2025/26 season. 
• Yihan Wang (CHN): As China’s first female ISU Figure Skating Junior Grand Prix Champion, Wang comes in aiming at the very top of the podium. 
• Sena Takahashi (JPN): The 2024 JGP Riga Champion comes back to familiar ice, eager to build on his past success.
• Habin Choi (KOR): After collecting a silver and a bronze medal on the junior circuit 2025, the Korean skater has set his sights on gold in Riga. 
• Caleb Farrington (USA): Entering his second JGP season, Farrington feels ready to show his improvement.
• Yuxuan Chen & Yinbo Dong (CHN): Fresh off earning silver at JGP Xi’an last week, the ISU JGP finalists plan on booking their spot back to the Final.
• Dania Mouaden & Theo Bigot (FRA): After narrowly missing out on gold a year ago in Riga, ice dancers Mouaden & Bigot return to challenge for their first JGP title.

• The ISU Figure Skating Junior Grand Prix series consists of seven events in seven countries that happen within seven weeks
• The skaters/couples collect points in their ISU Figure Skating Junior Grand Prix events and the top six in each discipline from the series qualify for the ISU Figure Skating Junior Grand Prix Final
• The two finals for junior and senior level skaters are held together
• The ISU Figure Skating Junior Grand Prix series starts in August and ends in December
